Programming Language - Algol68

Monday, August 27th, 2007

This is a short briefing of Algol68 programming language.

ALGOL 68 (short for ALGOrithmic Language 1968) is an imperative computer programming language that was conceived as a successor to the ALGOL 60 programming language, designed with the goal of a much wider scope of application and more rigorously defined syntax and semantics. Contributions of ALGOL 68 to the field of computer science are deep and wide ranging, although some of them were not publicly identified until they were passed, in one form or another, to one of many subsequently developed programming languages.

ALGOL 68 was defined using a two-level grammar formalism invented by Adriaan van Wijngaarden. Van Wijngaarden grammars use a context-free grammar to generate an infinite set of productions that will recognize a particular ALGOL 68 program; notably, they are able to express the kind of requirements that in many other programming language standards are labelled “semantics” and have to be expressed in ambiguity-prone natural language prose, and then implemented in compilers as ad hoc code attached to the formal language parser.

Programming Language - Algol

Monday, August 27th, 2007

This is a short briefing of Algol programming language.

ALGOL (short for ALGOrithmic Language) is a family of imperative computer programming languages originally developed in the mid 1950s which became the de facto standard way to report algorithms in print for almost the next 30 years. It was designed to avoid some of the perceived problems with FORTRAN and eventually gave rise to many other programming languages (including Pascal). ALGOL uses bracketed statement blocks and was the first language to use begin end pairs for delimiting them. Fragments of ALGOL-like syntax are sometimes still used as a notation for algorithms, so-called Pidgin Algol.

How to Increase the Simultaneous Download Limit in IE7?

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Are you a IE browser user? Do you facing this problem where Internet Explorer 7 is restricted to download only 2 files from a server at the same time(default setting). They purposely code the IE in that way in order to maintain web standards.

Today, I wouldl like share to you on how to overridden its default setting by a registry tweak.

So, how to tweak IE7 to increase the number of simultaneous download limit?

Step 1: Click Start button and select Run, type ‘Regedit’ in the ‘open’ textbox and click on Ok button. A Registry Editor will appear.

Step 2: Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Internet Settings

Step 3: Create a new DWord with the name MaxConnectionsPerServer (To create a new DWord, right click on the empty space found on the right side box -> Click New -> Click ‘DWORD 32 Bit Value‘)

Step 4: Create another new DWord with the name MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server

Step 5: Double click these new DWords you have created and set the decimal value higher than 2 and lesser than 10 (This number represents the maximum simultaneous download allowed)

Step 6: Restart and you are all set to have more simultaneous download from a server.

Enjoy. :-)

How To Logically Combine RealMedia Files?!!

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Good day everyone, today I would like to share with you about ‘How to logically combine the RealMedia Files?!!’

I guess many of you like to download rm type’s movie or animation. Then, surely you will have this experience where you got hundreds or maybe thousands of short episodes in rm format, and you are tired of double click to open next episode. :-P

Today, I would like to give you this useful tip where you can logically combine all the rm files as a single rm file. Yup, is logically combine all of them. (You don’t have to modify the original rm files)

It is very simple. Check it out below steps:

Step 1: Open your notepad and create a new file.

Step 2: Assume we have this directory path: C:\Cartoon\MyCollection\Doreamon and all of our doreamon.rm files are located in this path. Now, key in all your doreamon.rm file as below:

file://doreamon01.rm
file://doreamon02.rm
file://doreamon03.rm
… … (repeat for the less)

Step 3: After you finish key in all your target rm files, close the file and save it as AllDoreamon.rm in directory path: C:\Cartoon\MyCollection

Congratulation, you can start to enjoy all the Doreamon cartoon by just click on the AllDoreamon.rm file. :-)

Super easy, right?!!! Have a nice day. :-)
